About
Two people. One phone number. Lukas has been building websites for paying customers since 2006 — first as a freelancer in Prague, now in Perth with Erin. We work with businesses across Australia.
Lukas — the developer
Lukas grew up in the Czech Republic and started building websites for paying customers in 2002, working out of Pilsen. By 2006 he had a freelance practice, an SEO certificate from H1.cz (one of the few formal SEO programs that existed in Europe at the time), and he was writing his own CMS from scratch in PHP. He spent the next thirteen years as a sole-contractor developer at a Prague digital agency, eventually rewriting that whole CMS onto Nette — the same framework that powers this site today.
The Czech years included a few clients you might recognise: Lukas built and maintained sites for Hospital Na Homolce, one of Prague's major hospitals, and a fully bespoke seat-by-seat reservation system for JazzBoat, a concert-cruise tourism business on the Vltava river that's still running today. Plus more than 100 other websites and webapps across twenty years. He's particular about software security and accessibility — the kind of standards Czech and German developers grow up with and don't think about anymore.
In late 2021 Lukas, Erin and their then-1-year-old son moved from Prague to Western Australia. CodeWorks WA opened for business in 2025 — the trading name is new, the practice is twenty years deep.
Erin — the relationship
Erin is from Western Australia. She runs everything that isn't the building: first contact, quotes, invoices, project management, the conversations that need a human voice. Lukas writes the code; Erin makes sure the project actually runs. Between the two of them, you talk to one of them every step of the way — there's no account manager, no project manager, no junior developer you'll never meet.
Where we work from
We work from Perth with businesses across Australia. In-person meetings are Perth only — for everyone else, the relationship runs over email, video calls and the phone. We're a deliberately small operation: roughly four to five client projects on the go at any time, never more.
What we don't do
- WordPress. We've never built a WordPress site and we never will. Plugin sprawl, monthly security patching, and “your hosting bill renewed for $480, sorry” aren't problems your business should be paying for.
- Vibe coding. Every line of every site we ship is written by us, and we understand exactly what it does. No AI-generated code we don't understand. No prompt-and-pray builds.
- Free quote calls that aren't free. If you want to know what something costs, the prices are on the homepage. If you want a real quote we'll write one — but we won't hop on a 30-minute “discovery call” to qualify you for a brochure deck.
- Three people for one job. Most agencies bill you for an account manager, a project manager AND a developer — and the developer is the one you'll never meet. Here you're paying for two people, both of whom you'll meet.
- Solutions designed to sell you the next phase. We recommend what suits your business, even when that means “you don't actually need to rebuild the site, you need to fix three things on the existing one.” Less revenue per project, longer client relationships.
